Bus Bars

Adhesives Research (AR) offers ARclad® electrically conductive pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) technology, insulation and coverlay tapes for bus bar applications in solar photovoltaic applications including:

  • Monocrystalline silicon
  • Polycrystalline silicon
  • Amorphous silicon
  • Thin film photovoltaic constructions

ARclad conductive PSAs offer enhanced T-joint stability, conductivity and oxidation characteristics. These tapes offer a firm, cohesive, electrically conductive adhesive that reduces micro movement while withstanding thermal cycling and elevated humidity conditions.

Additionally, the conductive bus bar tapes offer:

  • Stable conductive bonds to electrical contact points under a wide range of environmental conditions
  • Reduced T-joint resistance
  • Lower resistance and excellent joint stability in hot ampacity testing (10 amps, 120°C, 6 days)
  • Good thermal shock performance (IEC 61646, -40 – 85°C)
  • Very stable damp heat resistance (85°C/85% RH)

ARclad® 92929 Single-faced foil - electrically conductive acrylic – 1 oz electronic-grade, tin-plated copper foil coated with 1 mil highly conductive acrylic heat seal adhesive.
ARclad® 92735 Double-faced dielectric tape- low outgassing, acid-free, ionically clean dielectric tape – 2 mil PET carrier coated both sides with 2 mil low outgassing, acid-free, ionically clean adhesive.
ARclad® 92638 Single-faced dielectric tape- low outgassing, acid-free, ionically clean coverlay tape – 1 mil PET carrier coated with 1 mil low outgassing, acid-free, ionically clean adhesive.
ARclad® 92925 Single-faced dielectric tape- temperature resistant, low-outgassing, non-corrosive, ionically clean coverlay tape – 1 mil PET carrier coated with 0.75 mil temperature resistant low outgassing, non-corrosive, ionically clean adhesive.
