As transdermal product designs and capabilities continue to evolve, adhesive manufacturers are embracing opportunities to formulate highly specialized pressure sensitive adhesives, coatings, and related polymer technologies to meet the requirements of these delivery systems.

The following reviews the evolution and formulation challenges of adhesive technologies from their use in passive transdermal drug delivery systems to their use in cutting-edge active delivery devices and novel forms for alternative site delivery.
